Band Bio
LowBrau play a mix of rock and party favorites that spans six decades of music. They take their motto, "We Play Anything", quite seriously. From the Beatles to Bon Jovi, Foghat to Fall Out Boy, Elvis to Everclear, there is something for everyone at a LowBrau show. The band prefers not to limit themselves to one specific genre, and audiences are always entertained by their ecclectic selection of music.
Based in the Northwest Chicago suburbs, Lowbrau have experience playing many different types of shows including opening sets, feature shows, private parties and picnics, corporate functions, and charity auctions. This band is appropriate entertainment for any situation, from conservtive cocktails to the most raucous of parties.
Conceived in 2005, LowBrau began as an alternative rock cover band playing music by Stone Temple Pilots, Green Day, Local H, and Nickelback, to name a few. They quickly expanded their repertoire to accomodate a pool party with an all-ages audience. That early success helped shape the direction of the band to include all types of music.
The name of the band was inspired by low-quality American beers that take German-sounding names to appear "authentic". What better name for a band that appeals to the least common denominator than "lowbrow"! It is a doubly appropriate name since the bartab of this band often exceeds its profits per show on a regular basis.
Lineup
Greg Lee (vocals) Greg has been consistently singing and performing since jr. high. He has developed an incredible vocal range from years of singing with world-class a cappella groups in the North suburbs of Chicago. A founding member of the group, Greg is also an instrumentalist who occasionally plays bass for the band.
Doug Pelt (guitar) Doug is a classically trained musician, having studied many instruments at the collegiate level before earning his degree in music from NIU. Doug is a natural musician, a fact he attibutes to teaching himself to play the guitar by ear back when he was in high school. Still, music is chiefly about having fun as is evident in his stage antics and wry sense of humor.
Frank Vito (vocals) Frankwas asked to join the group when the breadth of material became exhasting for one singer. "Frankie V" has been a singer since childhood, and he regularly entertains audiences with his moble DJ/ karaoke business, Thumbs Up Productions. Frank's presence in the group has led to a vocal-driven atmosphere emphasizing passion and harmony.
Shawn Davis (drums) Shawn originally joined the group as a substitute drummer and quickly became a favorite backup for the band. Shawn has been a professional drummer since college and has toured the country playing really, really loud. His tight grooves keep the band jamming, and his versatility has been a great asset for LowBrau.
